Jude Bellingham is called out by the Spanish media, with the England star being described as a "fading version of his former self" after Real Madrid’s crushing loss to Barcelona... and they claim just one person is responsible for his downfall.

Jude Bellingham faced heavy criticism from the Spanish media following Real Madrid's crushing 4-0 home defeat to Barcelona.

Still chasing his first goal of the season, Bellingham’s struggles are a far cry from his debut year at the club, when he netted 23 times across all competitions. The England international was determined to score against Barcelona but couldn’t, as his team was thoroughly outclassed. All four of Barcelona’s goals came in the second half, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice before Lamine Yamal and Raphinha compounded Madrid’s misery.

According to Marca, only one person is to blame for Bellingham’s dip in form: manager Carlo Ancelotti. The outlet argues that Ancelotti is misusing Bellingham, playing him out of position. Marca noted that Bellingham's work ethic isn’t the issue but highlighted that he’s often positioned as a full-back, which stifles his impact. Journalist Juan Ignacio Garcia-Ochoa wrote, "Bellingham is a shadow of the player who dazzled last season at the Bernabeu, but the problem lies in his management, not him.

"Every match, he plays in a role that doesn’t suit him. Though he gives his all, he can’t excel. Forcing him to play near the right wing, almost as a full-back, is a mistake that Ancelotti needs to fix immediately. The fact that a player who scored nearly 20 goals last season has yet to find the net as we approach November is something that demands serious consideration."

In stark contrast, Marca was full of praise for Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old, who helped Spain win Euro 2024, showed no signs of nerves on the big stage, even getting on the scoresheet. Marca wrote, "He’s a prodigy. He proved it at the Euros, continued in La Liga, and cemented it at the Bernabeu. He didn’t have his best game, but three key moments were enough to silence the stadium. His right-footed goal sent a clear message: Madrid is going to struggle against him for years to come."
