Manchester City have made history as the first English team to win four consecutive league titles, following their 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side has now claimed six of the last seven Premier League titles, topping the table with 91 points, while Arsenal fell short for the second consecutive year.

Phil Foden scored twice and Rodri added a third, securing a decisive win and capping off a historic day for both the club and English football. Despite Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal beating Everton, it wasn't enough to overtake City, who clinched the league by a narrow two-point margin.

Before City, only Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United had won three consecutive Premier League titles, achieving this feat twice (1998-99 to 2000-01 and 2006-07 to 2008-09). Pre-Premier League, Huddersfield Town, Arsenal, and Liverpool were the only teams to have won three consecutive titles.

City equaled the record of three consecutive titles last season during their Treble-winning campaign and have now surpassed it with their fourth. Erling Haaland played a crucial role, scoring 27 goals to win the Premier League's Golden Boot for the second year in a row, after netting 36 goals last season. The standout star was Phil Foden, a lifelong City fan, who won both the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Year awards for his 19 goals and eight assists.

Manchester City lost only three games this season, compared to Arsenal's five. The Gunners will look back on their loss to former manager Unai Emery's Aston Villa at the Emirates, where late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins in April weakened their title challenge.

A 0-0 draw with City in March at the Etihad, initially seen as a positive result for Arsenal, ultimately cost them dearly. In the first half of the season, Arsenal's losses to Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Fulham, along with a series of draws, damaged their title hopes. City solidified their grip on the trophy with a 2-0 win away at Tottenham, a venue where Guardiola's team has struggled historically.

Arsenal may also rue Son Heung-min's missed one-on-one chance against City's Stefan Ortega, a moment that could have altered the title race.

City, known for their strong finishes, have remained unbeaten since a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on December 6. They now aim to complete a domestic double on May 25, facing Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley for the second consecutive year.
