Real Madrid aim to complete a league and European cup double as they focus on the Champions League final. Known for their rich history in this competition, Los Blancos have won it 14 times, the most by any team. Under Carlo Ancelotti, they secured the La Liga title a few games ago, ending their season with two consecutive draws while resting key players for this match. They reached the final by winning their group with maximum points and eliminating RB Leipzig, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich in the knockout stages.

Borussia Dortmund are chasing their second-ever Champions League trophy, 11 years after their last final appearance at Wembley, where they lost to Bayern Munich. They finished fifth in the Bundesliga, securing the league’s final Champions League spot. Dortmund last won the Champions League in 1997 and are eager to add another title to their collection. They topped their group with 11 points and then defeated PSV, Atletico Madrid, and PSG to reach the final.

Real Madrid have been prolific in front of goal throughout the tournament, scoring 26 goals in 12 games. Although Dortmund have been less threatening, netting 17 times, they have been defensively solid, conceding just nine goals. Facing Madrid’s potent attack will be their toughest challenge yet. Vinicius Jr, with five goals in the competition, leads Real’s scoring efforts. He and Jude Bellingham have combined for 43 goals across all competitions. For Dortmund, Niclas Fullkrug is the top scorer with 15 goals, supported by Donyell Malen’s 14. This final will also mark the last club appearances for Toni Kroos and Marco Reus.

The last encounter between these two sides was in the 2017/18 group stages, where Real Madrid won both matches, 3-2 at home and 3-1 away. Dortmund had previously triumphed over Real in the 2012/13 semi-finals, winning 4-3 on aggregate to reach the final. Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller, who missed the last four Bundesliga games and was an unused substitute in the semi-finals against PSG, is hopeful to play a part this weekend. Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni is confirmed to miss the final due to a foot injury, and David Alaba has been out for most of the season.

Dortmund have won four of their last five games, losing one, finishing fifth in the Bundesliga and advancing to the Champions League final. They began this strong run with a narrow 1-0 win in the semi-final first leg against PSG, followed by a similar 1-0 victory in the second leg, thanks to Mats Hummels’ goal. Between these matches, they thrashed Augsburg 5-1 but lost 3-0 to Mainz. They concluded their league campaign with a 4-0 victory over Darmstadt, highlighted by Marco Reus scoring in his last home game for the club.

Real Madrid have won three and drawn two of their last five games. Their journey included a dramatic second-leg win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final, with late goals from Joselu sealing their place in the final. They celebrated their league title with a 4-0 win at Granada and a 5-0 victory in their following match. A thrilling 4-4 draw with Villarreal saw them blow a 4-1 halftime lead. They finished their season with a goalless draw against Real Betis.

Both teams are set for an exciting showdown at Wembley, with Real Madrid’s attacking prowess clashing against Dortmund’s sturdy defense.

Real Madrid will be the favorites due to their experience and superior quality. However, Dortmund have demonstrated their resilience in previous rounds, ensuring this will be a closely contested match. Despite this, we expect Real to narrowly come out on top.
